About Becky and Todd

Our vision

At Duotone Photography and Graphic Design we believe in capturing life’s moments as they happen. We specialize in natural light photography with a minimum amount of fuss, establishing a relaxed, creative atmosphere where ideas can flow and the personality of our clients can shine through. We want to capture the true character of our subjects while providing an affordable, high quality package.
We’re always searching for new ways to photograph the familiar, from a young couple starting out on life’s journey to an up-and-coming band sweating it out on stage, from a toddler’s first steps to the scenic beauty of eastern North Carolina, our mission is to see the world with new eyes each day and capture that vision for our clients.

The Basics, the two of us

Todd & Becky Wetherington are the photographers here at Duotone. They were married in April of 2009 and we were artists long before that. They live in beautiful New Bern, North Carolina and absolutely love it here. (Becky loves the beach probably just a bit more than Todd does, however...)

Todd was born and raised in New Bern, while Becky was born and raised in a small town in southern Virginia, where they visit often. They met while working at the local newspaper in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Todd was the photographer and Becky was a graphic designer... and the rest is history. ;)

Todd studied photography at Carteret Community College, earning his Associate's, and then worked towards his Bachelor's in photography at UNC-Wilmington before freelancing and working in photojournalism for many years.

Becky studied art at Virginia Commonwealth University, and then advertising & graphic design at Halifax Community College before finally earning her Bachelor's in Social Science from Ashford University.

They began Duotone in hopes of turning their passions for photography into something they can be happy doing as a job for many years to come.

About Todd

Todd will enter his personal bio here...eventually. :)

About Becky

I've always considered myself more of an artist than a photographer, but evolution is a wonderful part of life, isn't it? Before Todd came into my life, I used to dream longingly of owning a "real camera" (known in the photog world as a DSLR) instead of just a "point and shoot". I wanted to hear/feel the shutter when I took a picture. ("How come my digital doesn't make that cool sound?!") I wanted to know what aperture and shutter speed and ISO were, I wanted to understand them, and I wanted to be good at it.
Being a visual person, I always had a good eye for images and composition, but I wanted to know the fundamentals of photography.

Todd has taught me all those things. He pulled out one of his older Nikons, a D70, and handed it to me one night. That was almost 4 years ago, and I've haven't put that camera down since.
